Leading lifetime law expert backs wills campaign

This week is Update Your Will Week, an annual campaign hosted by the Association of Lifetime Lawyers, and backed by Bellavia & Associates.

Update Your Will Week, which ends on March 10, aims to raise awareness around the risks of not having an up to date will and encourages people to update their will to ensure their wishes are carried out when they die.

Having an up to date, well-drafted will is crucial to ensure your wishes are carried out in the way you’d like.

Knowing you’ve chosen what you want to happen can also help ease distress for loved ones left behind and minimise potential disputes.

If you die without a will, any assets that belonged to you must be distributed according to the strict rules of intestacy – which may not be how you expect or would want your estate to be shared – and could even end up with the government taking the lion’s share.

It’s never too early to make your will, as long as you’re over the age of 18 years old.

Bellavia & Associates has the only Welsh director of the Association, Claire Davis, as its Specialist Consultant.

Claire Davis

Claire said: “We recommend that wills are reviewed and updated every five years, or when a

major change occurs that impacts you or your loved ones. For example, a marriage, divorce, a new birth, or a death in your family.

“It’s important to speak to an experienced legal professional, such as an Accredited Lifetime Lawyer, as they’ll be able to advise on your unique, individual circumstances.”

Bellavia & Associates are Lifetime Lawyers and give specialist, tailored support and advice. They do this with extra care, empathy, and attention.

Bellavia & Associates’ managing director Zep Bellavia said: “Claire is one of the most qualified lawyers in the country in this area of the law and is committed to finding the best outcome for you, taking the necessary time to listen to what you need and supporting you to make your own legal decisions.”

If you’re looking to update or make a will, get in touch with Claire Davis or any of the Bellavia & Associates team for advice. Please call 01633 450460 or contact us online.
